Last week when my parents were here we went to see an operetta at the Statsoper. I had met this very sweet woman at a party and she happened to be the assistant of the Opera Director. She suggested I should take my parents to see the new staging of Die Fledermaus by Strauss II the following Tuesday.
It was a great and quite exclusive experience. My new aquaintance took us to the Directors official greeting room for a glass of champagne when we arrived and told us some facts about the opera. It will be closed down for renovation in 2010 and stay closed for three years (!). Meanwhile all performances will take place at the Schiller Theatre. More on the move here.
It was my first time in the opera so I have nothing to compare the performance with but it was very exhilirating and amazing music. I’m really fascinated by opera singers! It might have been my first but definately not my last visit to the opera!
