Watermelon Man. A cocktail you can get in close to every bar in Berlin. Allegedly invented by Thomas Pflanz, a Berlin mixologist, in 1996.
Still not sure what I think about it but here’s Thomas’ recipe if you feel like testing.
6-8 cl vodka
2-3 cl watermelon liqueur (marie brizard)
1 cl grenadine
2-3 cl fresh squeezed lemon juice
6 cl orange juice
Shake with ice and serve.

“A bar (also called a pub, tavern, beer garden, or saloon) is an establishment that serves alcoholic drinks — beer, wine, liquor, and cocktails — for consumption on the premises.
Bars provide stools or chairs that are placed at tables or counters for their patrons. Some bars have entertainment on a stage, such as a live band, comedians, go-go dancers, or strippers.
Types of bars range from “dives” to elegant places of entertainment for the elite.”
#Wikipedia definition.
Went to Kingsize last Saturday when Pierre was playing (ace set!). Maybe my 3rd time there? They do serve alcoholic drinks but unfortunately there are no go-go dancers (except for the self-proclaimed chease sniffers), it’s over-crowded and too smokey. And yes, I’m getting old!

My sister is visiting = double trouble. If you need some weekend planning inspiration here’s our schedule (according to plan but plans like rules are made to be broken – or changed).
Starting tonight with a vernissage somewhere at Unter den Linden. I actually have no clue what it’s about. Sarah invited us. Then dinner at Cream including vodka/rhubarb, a Doppelkorn for digestion and a dance while saying hi to the Italian Stallion.
Friday: work, lunch with Felix, work, work and then dinner at Bandol. Maybe going to the roof for a drink and then call it the night.
Saturday is BUSY. Don’t know about the order yet on but One Year Anniversary + Soju Bar opening at Kimchi Princess, friends playing at Bar 25 + Iva’s man playing at Kleine Reise.
Kuchi‘s bday party on Sunday + boat trip with former employer followed by dinner with business partners.
Soundtrack for take off …

Most of the times when Flavour and Peter play together (as Dirt Crew) they reach a certain hour (or should I say mental/physical condition) where Peter goes harder, deeper, meaner.
I LOVE it! Flavour doesn’t. But guess what, on Thursday Peter isn’t playing with Flavour but with Daniel. I just hope Daniel won’t be too “Disco, disco!” (say it like Zohan).
Thursday at Farbfernseher.

Summer is truly being kicked off with a number of new venues around the city – and the well known spots getting ready for another (hopefully fantastic!) season.
I put together a list for you. Below the photo. Places that are “must experience” this season.

Photo from LastNightsParty
King Size?
New bar from the people behind Grill Royal located in Friedrichstraße close to Oranienburgerstraße. I went on the opening night but I’m not sure about the name. Was it “King Size”? Bar Tausend watch out for competition!
Tausend in the sky
Soon to open again. The roof terrace venue in Kreuzberg located in the same building as Kimchi Princess. Great for a sundowner drink or pre-clubbing on a warm night.
Chipps
New restaurant run by Cookie and his team. As mentioned, I went to the opening last Saturday and looking forward to go back and test the food! I’m sure I will spend several late summer nights outside on the terrace.
Resort
The Rodeo jungs are behind this new venue. A restaurant located at the river. Opening tomorrow! More info will follow.
Soho House
With a pool on the roof terrace this venue will probably host some great parties this summer. I believe the opening is on May 4th? At least that was the last info I got per mail.
WEEKEND Roof
Opening tomorrow, Thursday. Many great Summer evenings and Sunday afternoons to come will be spend there!
BAR 25
Does this place need and introduction? Opening on April 30th, 23:59. Reinfeiern!
- and I heard rumours aaaages ago that another very wellknown face from the Berlin nightlife is planning to open a bar….still waiting for hard facts.

So I’m on the look out for new venues and a break from the “Been there, seen that Mitte-halli galli”. Was thinking Barbie Deinhoff’s. Any good?
There’s a party on Wednesday. Maybe one should go for an inspection. From 21:00.

Tonight, 22:00 at KIM Berlin
900 seconds
“A chance for everyone to have 15 mins of fame by playing whatever music or sound they damn well want. If you want to play, just arrive with 900 seconds of audio on any format before 10pm.”
- this could be really fun or really bad (for your ears)

Apperantly Pete Doherty felt the consequences when he was recently arrested in the Kreuzberg area of Berlin. Story from nme.com.
Of course there is a different story to it but I found this quote funny. It’s the bartender from Trinkteufel describing Pete + friends’ behaviour.
“The three of them had just come from Wiener Straße. There they’d been tossed out of a bar,” a bartender from the Trinkteufel club told Bild. “I almost threw Pete out [of Trinkteufel] too. He was drinking shots and constantly asking about cocaine.”
“I almost threw Pete out too. He was drinking shots and constantly asking about cocaine.” Maybe one has to live in Berlin to get the joke but I think it’s funny.

On Saturday StilinBerlin is celebrating the first issue of their printed edition. In case you don’t know, StilinBerlin is a blog that “explores the style in Berlin” by photographing random (stylish) people on the streets of Berlin. Follow the link!
The book launch will be celebrated at KIM in Brunnenstraße. Been there before, a somewhat berlinerchick, little venue. Sure it will be great.
Tunes by GLOW, LOVE&MERCY and JUDY CHECKTER will flow from the speakers and a special StilinBerlin installation by NIGHTBOUTIQUE will light up the place.
Saturday, 28. November 19:00 – 22:00

Well, not literally but the street has really changed in the last year or two. One gallery /showroom / concept store after another has popped up, mingling with the old kiosks, wash salons and “imbisses”.
Torstraße has definately become a go see. Whether during the day for a bit of shopping, in the late afternoon for a vernissage, in the evening for dinner or at night for a vodka/tonic at Muschi Obermaier – or really late at night for a beer at Kaffee Burger.
More details on stores, galleries, restaurants etc will follow in the near future. I mentioned vietnamese restaurant DUDU already. Speaking of which, happy birthday Nam!!
Start your route at the Schönhauser Allee intersection and walk all the way to Friedrichstraße. Or the other way of course….as you like.
