Kreuzberg, Berlin

Nørrebro, København
In the capital of my mother land for a couple of days. These messages caught my eye while sauntering down Nørrebrogade today.
…more photos to come. Happy Saturday!

From our visit at The Marble Church, Copenhagen last weekend. When I visit a place like this I
1. get inspired by the structure, atmosphere and historic dimension
2. experience a state where I just observe and let thoughts flow
Why don’t I go more often?

- standard line whenever people I meet discover I used to live there. I then reply, “Yeah, but there is a reason why I live in Berlin”.
Well, it is a beautiful city but it’s not all about the looks! Or so my mom says.
Here’s a walk through central Copenhagen on a rainy day. All familiar spots to an insider, maybe to you too. Will post some more over the next couple of days.

Changing of the Royal Danish Guards. Every day, 12:00 at Amalienborg, followed by a march through the city.

View from the tower of The Marble Church. Access to tower: Sat & Sun, 13:00 and 16:00.

Halfway to the top of the tower, there’s a small exhibition.

Sandwich place in Store Kongensgade in “Danish colors”.

Photo speaks for itself. Taste.

Decór store with attitude. Dress up for a visit. Casa Shop.

Everything is stylish in Copenhagen

The old Zoo Bar: Trashy place meets Copenhagen hipsters. New location: same people different deco.

Will somebody open a 7-11 in Berlin already! “Frozen coffee” to die for + fun, overprized Ami food

Last post from Copenhagen! As the Wood Wood party got to crowded on Saturday I went to Ideal Bar where some friends where playing.
The crowd was a bit young but excellent music. Obviously Leoparddrengen “Leopard boy” spiced things up with his Berghain worthy moves.

WOOD WOOD‘s A/W 2010 collection made me think of My so-called Life. My favorite tv-show when I was a teenager and my first encounter with Jared Leto.
A few snapshots from the show at D’angleterre

and the following party at Den Røde Pimpernel…

SO many people at last night’s WOOD WOOD show. More photos to come. Also from the following party. Being Sunday lazy.

I had dinner at a friend’s place last night and we made a last minute decision to go to the Vibskov show.
- Flavour will laugh at this: It turned out I knew someone at the door, so we got in without a ticket.
Vibskov’s A/W 2010 collection was very fine indeed! The venue was a big warehouse, we sat on wooden benches and the drinks: golden ladies in a can. Only drawback: it was arschkalt.
More of my photos here

I’m in Copenhagen for the week and yesterday I went to the launch party of Soulland’s A/W 2010 collection, “The Walk”.
Very laidback atmosphere with help-yourself Budweisers and vodka/soda. Unlike how fashion week can be. Instead of a show, a short movie presenting the collection (The Walk) was projected on the walls.
Soulland, founded by selftaught designer Silas Adler when he was only 17, hosted the party together with Danish online fashion store YOUHESHE.COM

Danish designer Stine Goya was there too along with two friends. All dressed in designs from her S/S 2010 collection.

I was just in Copenhagen for a job and had dinner with a friend (let’s call her the gaming girl) at Umami last night. I’ve mentioned the place in a previous post.
They make the best sushi I’ve ever had! By far. I’ve known the sushi guru since 2002 when I was waitering at the place he did his magic before Umami. The gaming girl worked there too. So we go waaay back. Which entitles us to special treatment. Which we like.
The reason for the title of this post is that a friend (the trendspotter) tried to reach me yesterday but I figured I’d call him back today, when in Berlin again. So today he tells me he had an extra ticket for the Prodigy concert, which was also last night. Here in Berlin. Afterparty and all….hmm.
As I said..can’t have it all. And my, do I have problems!

One of the reasons for my recent stay in Copenhagen was to meet with Den Rytmiske Tænketank (“The Rythmic Thinktank”). A group of people from the Danish music business, who have developed a proposal for a more strategic approach to music, on both a national and international level.
The Thinktank members all work in the music business (producers, label managers, musicians, venue owners etc.) and have been meeting with professionels from other businesses and industries to get their input and perspective. Quite a comprehensive project that has been going on for a little less than a year.
Last Friday the Thinktank passed on the baton at a big conference co-organised with big players from the music business and the Ministry of Culture. An interesting day with presentations/speeches, debates and a couple of life performances with i.a Kenneth Bager and newcomer Vinnie Who. Fourteen proposals categorised under Music Wxport, The Digital Revolution, Financing, Live Performances and Growth were presented during the day.
The next step: Turning the proposals into tangible ideas/initiatives that can be implemented and executed through funding from the private and public sector. Which is were I come in. More on that soon, I hope.
