A perfect face

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

I pampered myself with a facial treatment yesterday. Not something I do very often but I recently got to know Lillie Gitte (the owner of Dollface) and wanted to check out her salon.

Thumbs up for Dollface!! Tried a Perfect Face which is what I got – and still have. LOVE self-indulgence! They use great products like Nimue, Decléor and Organic Pharmacy and definately know what they’re doing. Prices are really fair too! Would recommend it any time! – and it’s not just for chicks!

Only bad thing: It makes you want to go every month which doesn’t really agree with my budget.

Important bonus info: They are amongst the very few salons in Copenhagen that offer a brazilian and rumour has it they do it really well! Dollface is located in Knabrostræde

Dinner, drinks and done

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

Still in Copenhagen, I went out with a good friend yesterday. Had dinner at Salon 39 in Frederiksberg which I can only recommend!

Very jovial and cushy atmosphere, tasty food (two words: Bistecca Fiorentina – an 800 g porterhouse steak for two that they carve at the table) and delicious cocktails. The two owners are working on a new place in Vesterbro (other neighbourhood) opening later this year.

Later we met with friends, stopped by Ritz and finished at Karrierebar. Enough nightlife. Tonight is movie night.

Friday

Previously known as Roberts

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Yesterday, I met a friend for coffee at this place that used to be “Roberts Coffee” – “Roberts” in everyday speech. It is now called something else, that I don’t remember, but it looks exactly the same. It’s located here.

The coffee is still as good as “back in the days”. Same with the smoothies, chai latte etc. and they have some insanely delicous cookies/pies.

Go chill in the old, comfy furniture in the basement (with an open fireplace). Recharge batteries and then go shopping in the surrounding streets. Lots of (slightly overprized but really good) secondhand stores and designer stores.

Sushi by them

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Had lunch with my sister today and couldn’t decide what café to go to so grabbed some sushi at Sushi by us at Nørrebro’s Rundel.

It’s a take-away place with just a few window seats so not a great place if you want to sit and enjooooyyy your food but they’re quick, the sushi is really tasty and the prices are fair! – and they have Bionade! – and Gingerbeer!

Elmegade – shop, eat and drink

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Years ago a friend of mine that I met when studying fashion design opened a clothing store in Elmegade with four other designers. They made their designs in the backroom and sold them in the store. “Fünf” (as in five designers). Today my friend is Head of Design at aitems but Fünf still exists.

Back then was the beginning of Elmegade and it has grown to a street with several stores, eateries and coffee places. The whole area around Sankt Hans Torv is great for finding special pieces from Danish designers.

Get youself one of the excellent coffees from Kaffeplantagen and go explore!

and btw…I’ve never seen a bagel store in Berlin…can that be?!

You can say what you want

…but I like Café Victor! It’s a café in the center and posh area of Copenhagen and has been there for ages. It’s overprized, the guests are often older men with young botox-testing, Louis Vuitton-loving women or yuppies that are actually rich or just trying to look so. The place is great for people watching!

Maybe it’s the interior design that I like…or the service? No matter how busy there’s a calmness to the place. And I like how the waiters wear shirt and vest. Keld, who works there and that I’ve known for years makes an excellent coffee and is an able bartender too – another good reason to go!!

Sorry, again no camera. Pics from the website.

Restaurant hopping

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

Next to my marketing management studies I worked at Umami. That’s how I met bar manager Chris who’s now a good friend of mine – and the best mixologist I know. Love, love, LOVE his cocktails!!

Yesterday I dropped by Umami to say hi and it just so happens that one of my best friends, Simon, is the manager at Madklubben, a restaurant just across the street. Had to stop by there too of course.

Check out their websites and go have dinner if you’re in Cph. Both great places!

Forgot to bring camera so photos are from websites. Will post some after my next visit – going there again before I head home to Berlin.
