What’s in your fridge?

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

If Christmas wasn’t so far away I would have wished for “Where they create” by photographer Paul Barbera.

Photos and descriptions of the spaces where creative minds create. Interviews included. Not only how their daily environment influences their output, but also what’s on their desk and even what’s in their fridge.

So here’s to a Januray present for myself.

Temples of Love

Friday, December 30th, 2011

These highly inspiring temples are located in Madhya Pradesh, India approximately 650 km from New Delhi. A UNESCO world heritage site and apparently of the most visited Indian tourist attractions. Wonder why?

Originally there were 85 temples but only 20 remain well preserved 1000 years after the “erection” which begun in the mid-9th century and went on for 250 years. I wonder if the workers had a hard time focusing?

Khajuraho: One-on-one, orgies, up-side down, animals – all fantasies and/or experiences are openly portraied. Wunderbar!

Surreal. Definately on the upper half of my travel wish list.
Las Pozas, the work of British dandy Edward James in the jungle of Mexico.

And dreams hang in the air…

I never had the urge to share my compassion/”sorrow” on the World Wide Web when prominent people (strangers) passed away. But I really felt sad when I learned this morning, that Steve Jobs had passed away.
Somehow I wanted to show my respect…

If you haven’t watched it yet, do yourself a favour and spend fifteen minutes on watching this video where Steve talks about “Connecting the Dots”, “Love & Loss” and “Death” to the Stanford graduates back in 2005.

And then remember, it’s a wonderful life…

Just discovered Apartamento down at do you read me while I was out for lunch. Could become an addiction.

Why do people/artists only paint on houses? – or walls.

Just wondering. In a city like Berlin where there is so much “freie Fläche”. Street painters seem to be a phenomenon that existed in the eightees? And in Mary Poppins.

And what about hop scotch? We left it with our childhood. In the eighties. Along with the street painters. And did hop scotch only exist in villages (it did in mine – I’m from one) or do they do it in big cities too?

So many questions on a Thursday afternoon….
I say bring out the chalk this weekend!

…gold for others.

Metal, rubber, tiles, wood, paint, fabric – heaven for creatives. Donate or collect – not sure though, if it’s for everybody or if you need some kind of “I’m creative” ID. Call them and find out.

The wooly kind of graffiti

Very zeitgeistig: Tradition meets trend in street knitting. Craftivist Collective is an English initiative, Collectif France Tricot is French and Strickenbar is German.

I noticed knitwork in the streets several times but always when not carrying my camera. The first photo, I took in Vienna back in June. The 2nd and 3rd are from Craftivist Collective’s Flickr

Seems CC is a bit more progressve spreading messages while the others aim to spread the warmth…

Btw ever heard of Knit your bit?
