It’s getting bigger, isn’t it?

I made it to Bread and Butter for a few hours last Thursday. As with the last two times: Impressive what they are able to create! The fair just keeps growing.

Saturday excursion

Friday, July 9th, 2010

If you’re thinking about getting out of the city this weekend, here’s your destination: Art Biesenthal. Located about 25 km north of Berlin.

I’m so fascinated by the contrast between the facade and backside of this small mansion! Every year they host the art event Inkonstruktion. Tomorrow is the opening, 14:00 – 22:00 with barbecue and music.

Artists:
Robert Barta, Michel de Broin, Thorsten Brinkmann, Andreas Gehrke, Franziska Cordes, Martin Flemming, Gregor Hildebrandt, Michael Kalki, Markus Keibel, Katja Kollowa, Alexej Meschtschanow, Ingo Mittelstaedt, Yudi Noor, Michael Sailstorfer, Rainer Sioda, Peter Welz

If you can’t make it tomorrow, go on
11.07 + 18.07, 12.00 – 17.00
25.07, 14.00 – 20.00
Finissage: 01.08, 14.00 – 20.00

A summer ode to MM

1.000 kisses to the DJ who plays this song tonight!

Off to the Weekday store opening or Designer Scouts at .HBC or Bright Bar or the WeSC BBQ or the Cheap Monday party … who decides, you decide?

Everybody loves Thursday

Berlin Fashion Week coming up! Due to a currently less balanced work load I can’t attend so many events but then again, I don’t think I’ll cry myself to sleep over it.

I will however go to (or have to prioritize between) the Bread & Butter opening + fair, the key to fair, an organic brunch at siebenundsiebzig, the Ellesse by Wood Wood event, Designer Scouts Fashion Show, The Big Trip by Bright, Weekday shop opening and a barbecue at Burg & Schild.

- and check out this post on another Berlin blog, iheartberlin, for more fashion week events!

Bordel abroad

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

Friends stayed until 8:00 in the morning at the last BDA party. I don’t expect to stay that long on Thursday but since it’s close to where I life I could stroll by for an after work drink.

Just a side note to the photo used for this flyer. I find bodybuilding pretty bizarre but also kind of fascinating. To have the self discipline to sculpture your body in such an extreme way. Dedication!

Eugen Sandow, born Friedrich Wilhelm Müller, the father of bodybuilding (lived 1867 – 1925).

Jusup Wilkosz, German bodybuilder during the golden age of bodybuilding in the 70es and 80es. Even trained with Arnold! Am I the only one who thinks he and Giampi look alike?

Staying in the hood. Party in the Hof

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

There is a lot going on this week because of DMY. Feeling a bit überfordert with the whole range of events. Think I’ll stop by the party in the yard of Bötzowbrauerei on Friday.

- also to say hi to the guys from Themroc who are cooking pasta in the yard together with Appartment.

Different acts and performances going on in the yard. Monica tells me last year was a blast!

Good thing I’m not a songwriter with those rhyming skills. Or lack of same.

Weather forecast says 25 degrees on Saturday. So this is where we go. Adicup

Party in disguise

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Though it’s invitation only you might get lucky if your outfit is creative/elegant/daring/extravagant enough.

Or you can pretend to be somebody else. Someone who is on the list. Who would know, really? – you’re in disguise!

The yearly Masquerade at Bar TAUSEND. Tomorrow, 22:00 – ?

Once were airplanes. Now is park.

Tempelhofer Park is opening this weekend with lots of different events. “Picknick und großes gastronomisches Angebot” caught my eye….if there is food, there is me. So off we go!

Full schedule here in case food isn’t a good enough reason for you.

Bierpinsel

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

I still haven’t made it to see this spectacular building in real life. For me, it’s one of those “creations” you can neither categorise as beautiful nor hideous. It’s somehow just entitled to exist.

Since April 1st and until May 15th four international artists work on the tower: Flying Förtress, Honet, Sozyone and Craig ‚KR‘ Costello. Inside the tower nine other artists exhibit and Berlin street artists will work around the tower – in the streets and subway.

The Bomb-diggity

Monday, April 12th, 2010

Please, do yourself the favour to go watch Flhip Flhop! As mentioned, I went to the premiere on Friday and I laughed so hard I had musscle pains the day after.

- and no, that doesn’t say more about my abs than about the play!

I’m not really a hip hop fan but I absolutely LOVED the combination of dancing, beat-boxing, joking, fighting, teasing, jumping, crying and laughing. Amazing choreography, soundtrack and chemistry between Ernest and Eugene, the two actors.

Note, the play is in German! Programme info on website.

See you around?

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

I was encouraged to write my personal weekend plans for a change instead of the usual list of random (but of course carefully selected) list of events.

Figured this weekend was a good one to start with since my plans are unusually interesting and so it sounds like I always do lots of fun stuff.

Thursday
Meeting friend who just came back from a month in N.Y. Catching up inbetween and at:
- Pen to Paper vernissage at artSPACE berlin
- Lucas Carrieri Gallery 1 year Bday celebration

Friday
I recently got to know Ernest through common friends. He’s an actor and he invited us to the premiere of Flhip Flhop, a hip hop comedy, where he performs as one of the two main characters. I heard great things from the premiere in Potsdam so I’m quite excited! Tickets still available here.
Afterplay: afterparty

Saturday
A friend invited me to see Melissa auf der Mauer perform at The Diamond Lounge at White Trash. Dinner first, then show. Also very excited about that!!
Then Swedish friend Sanna and boyfriend Fredrik play at Farbfernseher and finally Argy, Jerome and Elie play at the Luzia bday party – along with 10.000 other djs.

Sunday
Mauerpark fleemarket and a get-together with a group of friends I haven’t seen in a long time. Hoping for sunshine.
