After I went to this ball room birthday party last Friday (dresscode was something like “baroque with an animalistic twist) I’m hooked on costume balls – or just dressing over the top.

There’s a special ambience in a room full of men in Black Tie and women in baroque dresses, luxury label couture, big wigs and all wearing masks. Of course the setting has to be right too – it was.

Maybe the forecasted finacial crisis and the never ending lectures on “how to be a decent citizen, taking social responsibility” will lead to “nocturnal escapism”.

Berlin Fashion Week coming up! Due to a currently less balanced work load I can’t attend so many events but then again, I don’t think I’ll cry myself to sleep over it.

I will however go to (or have to prioritize between) the Bread & Butter opening + fair, the key to fair, an organic brunch at siebenundsiebzig, the Ellesse by Wood Wood event, Designer Scouts Fashion Show, The Big Trip by Bright, Weekday shop opening and a barbecue at Burg & Schild.

I just discovered the Berlin lingerie brand Dorotea Time and instantly loved the brand based on this playful photo shoot.

Dorothee Erle is the creative mind behind the colorful delicates – and the artist behind the imaginative backdrop on the photos. I just mailed her to find out where to see the whole collection.

The model is Miss Julietta La Doll, a Berlin based burlesque performer. She can actually be seen live tonight along with other burlesque performers at La Fete Fatale. I’m tempted. Imagine the photos one could take.

Why kill Ziggy?

It was during Bowie’s time in Berlin that he declared to have killed his alter ego Ziggy. Imagine that Bowie moved here as a retreat from “snowy” L.A. Taking Iggy Pop with him. In the late 70es.

Thomas Jerome Seabrook’s book “A New Career In A New Town: Bowie in Berlin” covering that time of Bowie’s life comes well-recommended. Don’t know if any of you can pass on other tips?

Japanese designer Kansai Yamamoto is the master mind behind several of Ziggy’s tour outfits from the early seventies.
