Party in disguise

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Though it’s invitation only you might get lucky if your outfit is creative/elegant/daring/extravagant enough.

Or you can pretend to be somebody else. Someone who is on the list. Who would know, really? – you’re in disguise!

The yearly Masquerade at Bar TAUSEND. Tomorrow, 22:00 – ?

Vom Bauernhof

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

I stopped by Smart Urban Stage yesterday to get a bio-bite at the “Green City Food Parcours” hosted by UNDPLUS.

Stephan Hentschel, the culinary genius behind Cream, had brought his team to share their knowledge about local food products and how to prepare them right!

Smart Urban Stage present a number of events over the next 4 weeks. For the next two weeks it will be invitation only but for the last two weeks open to the public.

INCOGNITO

Photos I took at the Wanky Planet party on Saturday.

Street art XL

Monday, April 26th, 2010

I took this photo today at Rosenthaler Platz and then just discovered the video posted by a friend on Facebook.

We’ll just have to go back

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Went to the opening of Cookie’s new restaurant Chipps on Saturday. Must have been too busy sipping vodka rhubarb, chitchatting and toe-tapping to take any proper photos.

This is the only photo you get. The rest are unsharp or just not meant for public showing. MM will appreciate this.

So I’ll just have to go back and do proper photos – and taste the food. Bonus info: As opposed to Cream (Cookie’s other place) Chipps is not a vegetarian restaurant.

I think we’ll be having fun.
If not, we’re to blame

1st May coming up. SO MUCH going on in Berlin. Will do a post next week but here’s a teaser until then:

WEEKEND opens its roof terrace with Carl Craig. The gig is part of Craig’s D25 tour celebrating a quarter century of Detroit techno. If the weather is with us it will be one of the top parties on May 1st. In my oppinion.

As a warm up: There’s an excellent podcast with Carl on Resident Advisor from 29.03.2010. My favorite parts start at 38.46 and 52.25. From 14.55 is also pretty good. You get the point.

If you haven’t subscribed to Resident Advisor podcast yet, do it! Lots of great dj sets every week!

Impromptu!

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

MM just booked a flight for a spontanious visit this weekend. Arriving Saturday. Yeih!!

Timing couldn’t be more perfect. We have oh so fond memories from COOKIES back in the days when she lived here and this Saturday Cookie + Team celebrate the opening of their new eatery CHIPPS. MM just kind of had to come.

Thursday
Private dinner at a friends place, maybe stopping by an event in Extrafein, then Comme Ci Comme Ca meets B-Pitch at HBC and propably a short inspection at WEEKEND to see Carl Cox.
Feeling too lazy to go to Kreuzberg but a tip for you: Broken hearts Club at LIDO

Friday
For me: Dinner in Friedrichshain. Break. Saving energy for MM. But YOU could check out the opening of Zirkumflex and later support Dave, Sven and Fritz at Watergate

Saturday.
CHIPPS! Then the Wanky Planet Party in Torstraße and from there we do it impromptu! If you are in Kreuzberg, maybe Lobster Random is worth a visit?

Sunday
Forecast says 20 degrees and sun. So doing something somewhere outside. If weather lets us down…Panorama?

WASTED BERLIN

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

According to Paul: “Just drinks, nothing big.”

In theory

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Tomorrow. Wednesday. Plans? In my case: A Philips event at Friedrichstadtpalast.

In theory, we could continue to Farbfernseher for a vodka/rhubarb, tip-tapping toes to the sound of Hrdvsion and Mano le Tough.

Then Soulfooled label night at Watergate or do the “I-have-to-hold-my-crotch-to-avoid-loosing-my-pants”-walk, saying wazzup while walking entering WEEKEND to dig Tony Touch. Btw, can one read irony?

Sounds great. In theory. Maybe except for Tony T. And when leaving out facts like having to get up early on Thursday.

Spectacular Spectacle

Friday, April 9th, 2010

Changes are big that you’ll run into a guy called Robin at this party!

Picknick was closed last weekend so will probably be packed tomorrow. Get there early!

I don’t care as long as you sing

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Tomorrow. Broken Hearts Club + Cookies = Karaoke.

I’m not really a fan of karaoke. Basically I dislike karaoke as much as bowling. I’ve even used the word “hate” about bowling. Which is maybe a bit übertrieben. Hate is a strong word.

But when you’re with the right people everything can be fun. AND there’s a live band supporting the overlooked talents amongst you.

Welcome drink: 20:00
Dinner: 21:00
Singing, drinks and food: €39
cream@cookies.ch for reservations

Berliner punk/rock/alternative band Beatsteaks… – not the karaoke supporting band. Then I’d be there on the spot!

“Tall Latte, laktosefrei”

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

My morning order when I stop by Caras, the coffee place just across the street from my office. I’m not lactose intolerant, I just learned from Mo and Nina, that their lactose free latte tastes better.

Caras don’t make the best coffee in Berlin (you get that here) but it is pretty good and their banana-walnut muffin is super delicious!

- and the place is ideal for people watching or just reading your paper outside in the morning sun (morning in Berlin being 11 am).
