Die Burgermanufaktur

Sunday, November 6th, 2011

I’ve written about The Bird earlier. My favorite burger place in Berlin. I haven’t found its match yet but I believe BerlinBurger International is a worthy contestant.

The only downside: it’s located in Neukölln which is too far from my place to go sate a sudden burger craving.

On my playlist while away…

And then came Buenos Aires

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

Since last summer I’ve been planning to go to Lavanderia Vecchia with Ami. It’s really a bit weird how time just flies by.

Eventually, Ami’s planned trip to Buenos Aires was “on Sunday” and now, the little Italian place just has to stay put and wait for another three months – cause I have to go with her, you see.

BUT maybe one or the other of you readers didn’t hear about the place yet and is better at making plans meet. Viel spaß!

Fashion meets food

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

A combination which seems non-existing when you read fashion magazines or watch run way shows. Well, good thing Berlin is different!

Another vegan concept. They seem really into that in Neukölln. None the less, Sing Blackbird is worth a visit! For example tomorrow for the Sonntag Flohmarkt.

“It’s not true I had nothing on, I had the radio on.”

American photographer Bert Stern was lucky enough to spend three full days taking photos of the mesmerising Norma Jeane Baker only six weeks before her death in 1962.

The result of the Vogue commisioned shoot was “The Last Sitting” which wasn’t published until after Monroe’s death.

The very authentic photos portraying Norma Jeane Baker as much as Marilyn Monroe + documentations and films featuring the femme fatale are shown at Schloss Britz until 30.01.2011.

Definately worth a visit, I think!

A Sunday sin the vegan way

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

My apologies in case I have any vegan readers but I never really understood veganism. I’m probably just being ignorant and condemnatory but for example; vegans who wear leather shoes? Do it right or don’t do it at all.

Anyway! Vegan or not, the little wonders from Vux have totally won me over! The decadent cake place is celebrating their 1 year birthday on Sunday, October 3rd and you’re invited! (Not sure I am after my anti-vegan statement?).

So fancy some alcohol-free champagne? Richardstraße 38 after 12 pm. If you wan’t to dance it off afterwards there’s quite a nice line-up at Panorama….

While we wait for open water

Monday, March 8th, 2010

I’m not really a big fan of indoor swimming pools but when the venue is as beautiful as Stadtbad Neukölln, it’s a different story. The venue opened again in March 2009 after 10 months of renovation.

Besides the two pools there is a herbal sauna, a steam bath, a Finnish sauna, sun showers and what have we not. Plus they offer massages.

There are several Bäder in Berlin that are worth a visit. More info here (German).
