“Hidden” in a court yard in Kastanienallee. Remise Berlin

Photos by me

Kastanienallé
Acht ein Halb Wochen opens today! 17:00. The used to be temporary store settled down (unlike Berlin) in a permanent location in Kollwitzstraße 42.
Join them for drinks and snacks later in the afternoon! And check out Berlin designers like John de Maya, Esther Perbandt, Kilian Kerner, Clarissa Labin, juliaandben, Liebig, Michalsky, Ansoho, Tiedeken, Paula Immich and more.
Besides clothes you’ll find special edition cd’s and records, books and all the regular stuff that belongs in a concept store.

Appearantly Apple extended their product portfolio. Probably based on a growing demand in Prenzlauerberg (where I took this photo).

Perfect moped music

- and a pomegranate juice. My standard order for those mornings where I don’t rush to the office but decide to treat myself at my regular place in Sredzkistraße.
Btw, I’m still searching for the perfect brunch place. There’s always something wrong: Boring bread, sad-looking fruit, neutral-tasting eggs…
Maybe the Scandinavian definition of “a solid, high quality brunch” differs from the German? Or I’m too picky. The search goes on. Tips are most welcome!

Sticker seen in Prenzlauerberg (of all places)
Coffee and 35 degrees don’t go well together. Ice coffee and 35 degrees are a way better match!
I mentioned Bonanza Coffee Heroes and Pro Macchina as my favorite coffee places but Impala is an adequate alternative. They recently opened a third place at Senefelder Platz.
Trying the cream cheese brownie is a must!

There is a lot going on this week because of DMY. Feeling a bit überfordert with the whole range of events. Think I’ll stop by the party in the yard of Bötzowbrauerei on Friday.
- also to say hi to the guys from Themroc who are cooking pasta in the yard together with Appartment.
Different acts and performances going on in the yard. Monica tells me last year was a blast!

Photos from the weekly dinner at Appartment last Tuesday. We were too late for dinner but in time for a drink.
Howcome a longdrink at an “illegal” place costs €6? Have no idea how the place runs but to me it was more expensive than expected.
Funny thing, if it had been €5,50 I wouldn’t have thought about it. €0,50 difference. Ridiculous.
So to answer my own question: Yes, I am a spoiled non-native Berliner.

I mentioned before that I have two favorite coffee places in Berlin but I’ve only come around to write about one of them, Pro macchina da caffé in Ackerstraße.
Bonanza Coffee Heroes is my Sunday place. I go there when I’m headed to Mauerpark but it’s always so crowded I don’t feel like taking photos. But I went yesterday with MM and discovered, Monday around 11:00 is pleasently quiet.
They also sell coffee beans and ground coffee. Have to test it one day. Then again, I doubt it will taste as good as it does when made by the masters.

Sounds alot more fancy than the German Kastanien Allee. The street just around the corner from where I live. Very much a beaten track in Berlin but lovely none the less.
I pass by these different places on those rare occasions when I walk to my office. Starting where Oderberger Straße intersects.

Where a friend had a moustache tattooed on the side of his indexfinger. Can you picture what for?

Where Astrid and I buy South African white wine

Where I buy a coffee when I miss the tram. Not because it’s good but because I’m bored

Perfect place for a falafel meal in summer

After three years in Berlin I still haven’t made it inside this Imbiss. But heard food is great!

For a bit of shopping…
