Since last summer I’ve been planning to go to Lavanderia Vecchia with Ami. It’s really a bit weird how time just flies by.
Eventually, Ami’s planned trip to Buenos Aires was “on Sunday” and now, the little Italian place just has to stay put and wait for another three months – cause I have to go with her, you see.
BUT maybe one or the other of you readers didn’t hear about the place yet and is better at making plans meet. Viel spaß!

…just a little bit of madness.

Kantine in Joachimstraße. Appereantly not a new venue but totally slipped my attention. Thanks Eva for enlightening me in time – Kantine will close around March, I hear.
My picks from Friday (the menu changes almost every day)
Winter salad: Mushrooms, hazel nuts, red wine pear and currant vinaigrette €7
Savoy cabbage roulade, one with Couscous/Ziegenkäse, one with beet root/walnut and sweet potato gratin, €14
Apple cake, macademia nuts, Vanilla icecream, €5
- or the 3 course menu (website)

A few photos from when I went for dinner at Kreuz Friedrichs – the newly re-opened restaurant behind Berghain.
Best lamb I ever had! Great wines. Definately a place to return to! Of course the venue is full of chairs and tables (and people) normally but I didn’t manage to take a photo until the guys had cleared the room for the cleaning lady.

Unfortunately I can’t attend the winter opening of Berghain’s restaurant tomorrow but looking forward to dine at the open fireplace in the nearest future.
I expect something cosy based on the description in Thomas’ invite. More info to come!

…The Shy Chef. But I still haven’t had the time to test her cooking skills.
“Hidden” in an old flat in Kreuzberg, the Shy Chef cooks a five-course set menu for up to six guests a night. A so-called guerilla restaurant. Or simply a private dinner.
The chef might be shy but her prices aren’t. She can’t officially charge you but a donation of €62 including a welcome drink, wine, coffee and a digestif, is “accepted”.
Fair price? For “home cooking”? The last private dinner I went to was €15 for three courses and “bring a bottle of wine”. And it was really delicious!
I should really test it though. I should.

It could easily end up that way. If only Mitte-people weren’t so cheap and expected everything for free (will leave no comments regarding my own behaviour).
We had breakfast at Chipps last week. Delight! You pay a bit more than average but in return you get quality! … Blue stamp.

Thanks to the people behind Pale Blue Door for a fantastic night last week! Was so impressed by the construction work! Everything was perfect. People even sung happy birthday! Yes, there was a small confusion.
I really struggled with the red light when taking photos. Which is why some of them are b/w. Have a look at the website to see Manuel Vazquez’ photos of the stunning piece of heaven.
+: Am now addicted to horseraddish creme fraiche.

I had dinner at Schwarzer Hahn in Friedrichshain recently. Über delicious! Nice and simple concept: 7-8 courses on the menu + daily specials, a couple of selected wines and Augustiner Beer.
Honest food at fair prices (€10 – 17) for a main – in a nice and quiet street in Friedrichshain.
