Get your hands dirty

Monday, August 16th, 2010

- you almost certainly will. But that’s the price you pay when you go look for finds at a €1 store.

Honestly lots of not very useful stuff but how great a pleasure you get when you find just the thing you didn’t know you needed – for ONE EURO! I even found three!

Trödel Agentur (Kreuzberg) Birthday celebration. This week, every day from 12:00.

The country where everything fits on a scooter

For a while, I’ve been wanting to check out the Asian market in Lichtenberg, Dong Xuan Center. I was travelling around Vietnam for a month seven years ago and going back soon is on my travel wish list. Until then I have to settle with Lichtenberg.

Not that I was over-excited about Vietnam back then. I had quite a culture shock, coming from a city with 25.000 inhabitants in the idyllic, calm, Danish countryside. But thinking back, it was a truly amazing country – meaning people, culture, food, nature.

I scanned some photos from the trip. Not really the 12 MP resolution, ISO supersensitive, high definition quality we get these days but that makes me love the photos even more. Looks like a different lifetime.

And yes, there is a photo of an eco-looking backpacker-me (referring to the hiking sandals).

It all goes around. Goes around

Two weeks ago I sold a bunch of clothes, shoes, belts and bags at Mauerpark Fleemarket. Most of it was stuff I bought 2nd hand somewhere on a different market or in a vintage store.

Might go spend some of the money I made from selling old clothes on byuing new old clothes. That I can sell later this summer. Or next year.

Anywho. The WMP fleemarket is usually worth a visit!

Schmuck dich

My Capetonian jewellery designer friend, Pierre, finally made it to Berlin. Yeih! George and I are very happy. They’re like brothers from different mothers.

Pierre’s setting up a work shop here and ever since he told me he was moving to Berlin (some time last summer?) I have been thinking about my next piece of Pierre-Estienne jewellery.

I’m quite hooked on an engraved ring. I would start sealing ALL my letters. It would require I start writing letters. But I would! If I had the ring …

I think it’s time for tea

I just discovered the Berlin lingerie brand Dorotea Time and instantly loved the brand based on this playful photo shoot.

Dorothee Erle is the creative mind behind the colorful delicates – and the artist behind the imaginative backdrop on the photos. I just mailed her to find out where to see the whole collection.

The model is Miss Julietta La Doll, a Berlin based burlesque performer. She can actually be seen live tonight along with other burlesque performers at La Fete Fatale. I’m tempted. Imagine the photos one could take.

Ich brauche Tankestelle

Met these two guys at the temporary sale in Oderbergerstraße. They were making their Malakoff Kowalski bags and told me the whole story behind them, which I don’t remember anymore but I’m sure the curious reader can find it on the website.

They’re also known as The Barotti and are doing a big show with a huge installation in Stadtbad Wedding on May 1st. Keep it in mind!

- having met the guys, I’m sure it will be pretty entertaining.

Chestnuts avenue

Sounds alot more fancy than the German Kastanien Allee. The street just around the corner from where I live. Very much a beaten track in Berlin but lovely none the less.

I pass by these different places on those rare occasions when I walk to my office. Starting where Oderberger Straße intersects.

Where a friend had a moustache tattooed on the side of his indexfinger. Can you picture what for?

Where Astrid and I buy South African white wine

Where I buy a coffee when I miss the tram. Not because it’s good but because I’m bored

Perfect place for a falafel meal in summer

After three years in Berlin I still haven’t made it inside this Imbiss. But heard food is great!

Find fun stuff at Uhranus (not stuff related to certain bodyparts)

Where my friends buy records

For a bit of shopping…

48 | DESIGNER SALE

Monday, April 5th, 2010

Stopped by the temporary sale in Oderberger Straße 48 on Saturday. Sven, the guy behind it is the same who organises the Blind date Swingers Club parties I mentioned before.

The temporary store is open daily 11:00 – 20:00 until May 1st! Go check it out! Various artists are exhibiting their work as well during the next month. And while you’re in the street go to Bonanza coffee heroes in number 35 for excellent coffee and cake!
