Apples turned into gold.

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

Das Geld hängt an den Bäumen is a great initiative that reduces food loss, supports local “farmers” and employs disabled people.

Basically, if you have apple trees in your garden, that provide more fruit that you can eat yourself, you can let them know and they’ll pick it up. The employees are disabled people or people from the “disadvantaged groups” of our society.

Also if your garden needs a loving hand, they offer to tend the garden as well.

More information on their website! Unfortunately only in German.

Berlin Fashion Week coming up! Due to a currently less balanced work load I can’t attend so many events but then again, I don’t think I’ll cry myself to sleep over it.

I will however go to (or have to prioritize between) the Bread & Butter opening + fair, the key to fair, an organic brunch at siebenundsiebzig, the Ellesse by Wood Wood event, Designer Scouts Fashion Show, The Big Trip by Bright, Weekday shop opening and a barbecue at Burg & Schild.

- and check out this post on another Berlin blog, iheartberlin, for more fashion week events!

I stopped by Smart Urban Stage yesterday to get a bio-bite at the “Green City Food Parcours” hosted by UNDPLUS.

Stephan Hentschel, the culinary genius behind Cream, had brought his team to share their knowledge about local food products and how to prepare them right!

Smart Urban Stage present a number of events over the next 4 weeks. For the next two weeks it will be invitation only but for the last two weeks open to the public.
