Great footage in this short feature!
A combination which seems non-existing when you read fashion magazines or watch run way shows. Well, good thing Berlin is different!
Another vegan concept. They seem really into that in Neukölln. None the less, Sing Blackbird is worth a visit! For example tomorrow for the Sonntag Flohmarkt.

If you don’t just want to connect a bit of history to the pretty paintings at Eastside Gallery but to learn more about the Berlin Wall you should go to Gedenkstätte Berliner Mauer.
The whole area has been going through an re-construction process (ending 2011) with especially the outdoor exhibition being extended.
On Tuesday the Visitor Center is showing a movie portraying five people traumatized from spending in Stasi prison. “Gesicht zur Wand”. Starts at 19.30. Free entrance!

Donald is a true explorer in the sense of gaining access to old, deserted (scary) buildings in and around Berlin. That’s why I think he’s daring.
Here are some of his photos from the old hospital in Beelitz-Heilstätten. What this building has seen! Do yourself a favour and google it). Everything from housing Hitler in 1916 to being used as a location for The Pianist (2002).

Actually *the underground aka BVG. Ernst Reuter, a visionary man who saw the need for public transportation and “hiding” traffic beneath the streets in the early 20th century.
I have to admit I’m not a fan of travelling beneath the ground – you see nothing! Which is why I ride my bike around the city. Unfortunately bike riding does not fit with the Berlin Winter.
Always a trade-off: freeze to death, see nothing, polute (car driving). Your choice.

- gold as well. The charming face of Volksluxus actually hides a workshop. Every Tuesday and Wednesday 18:00 – 21:00 you can (learn how to) make your own jewellery under guidance of a pro silversmith.
€15 an hour. €10 if in a class of three. Melt and re-design jewellery you don’t use or buy materials there.
A new hobby to keep you busy in those long winter evenings…

…The Shy Chef. But I still haven’t had the time to test her cooking skills.
“Hidden” in an old flat in Kreuzberg, the Shy Chef cooks a five-course set menu for up to six guests a night. A so-called guerilla restaurant. Or simply a private dinner.
The chef might be shy but her prices aren’t. She can’t officially charge you but a donation of €62 including a welcome drink, wine, coffee and a digestif, is “accepted”.
Fair price? For “home cooking”? The last private dinner I went to was €15 for three courses and “bring a bottle of wine”. And it was really delicious!
I should really test it though. I should.

Happy Saturday!

Weekend coming up. The weather makes we want to spend it in bed with the box of flødeboller I just imported from CPH. But did anybody ever say on their deathbed: “I wish I had spent more time in bed?”
So…up and out! You could…
- go to the vernissage of PUBLIC VIEWING presenting recent photographs by EVOL and JUST

- check out TRUST. Trojan and Cookie’s new bar. Went to the opening last night. Approved!

- hang out with close friends

- eat wurst, käse + brot at the Meierei before going to the Saturday Market at Kollwitzplatz

- visit Kunstnacht10 at Berlinische Gallerie

- visit a micro cinema. E.g B-Ware in Chorinerstraße
Berlin can refer to other things than the metropolis we live in. E.g the last name of Brigid Berlin, key member of Andy warhols entourage.
This movie clip shows a crucial moment in Warhol’s career. He claims that Berlin has been doing his work for three years. A prank that made the prices of Warhol’s pieces drop and left the question of authorship open to this day.

MM is back this weekend! Basically, we never have a fixed schedule beforehand. Still, there are things we just have to do.
Eat Bratwurst. Drink coke

Guzzle sushi. Plenty of it. Nam & Co‘s yummy rolls.

Cook schnitzel and deep frozen vegetables in butter sauce (that’s MM’s thing, definately not mine!)

Just a bit of clubbing

Go to the cinema. Because it’s ridiculously cheap compared to Cph.

Mauerpark. Kater or no kater
