Let us be kids!

I’ve always fancied Oliver Rath for his provocative pictures but I’m especially impressed by his project “Lasst Uns Kind Sein”.
In September Rath flew to Togo with the Team from the “RTL charity marathon” to document the project but also created a number of children portraits. Here are some of the photos. See the rest here.

The charity? He collected around €10.000 that will be used to finance an eye clinic in Lome.

I like the saying: “It’s the small things that matter”. Which is why I like this event. Turnschuhklappe (which you can translate to something like “Sneaker container”?) is an initiative by Andre Heller who works in the “sneaker business”.

He got the idea to donate sneakers to children and young people as a way to help fight bullying. Children are often bullied because of the way they dress. Children from “underpriviliged” families with scarce financial resources who can’t afford fancy brands or even new clothes.

Andre Heller started contacting brands like Adidas, Nike, Vans, New Balance, Asics, Rocket Dog, Fila, Lacoste, Ethletic, PF Flyers etc., asking them to donate shoes for the cause. Within short time more than thousand pair of shoes were “in the container”.

On Monday 14.12 a Kick-Off event will take place in Rodeo as a way to promote the project. Live-Acts, DJs, prominent faces and fun people like you and me will celebrate the good cause. Tickets are available through “draws” in Radio shows, TV, News Papers and various social networks. Get in touch for more information or check out the website (in German)!
